Finishing Up

The Feature Article

The last touches would be for my feature article. It showcases and analyzes the chosen outfit for the spring season.

Finishing the Magazine

Starting the Rest

Today, i worked on finishing the magazine. I was able to take and use pictures that i took of my own outfits. This was the beginning of creating my table of contents.

Production: Finishing the Cover

Today, i finished the cover for my magazine. The final product is shown below.

My Thought Process

I ensured to refer to the conventions and characteristics of a magazine cover, which ive made once before. While making it, i made sure to think about and reflect whats currently going on in the fashion world. I included topics like Demna, with his recent move to Gucci as creative designer, the return of the popular brand Number (N)ine by Takahiro Miyashita, and other fashion tips/topics that can be covered with spring approaching.

This variety of topics and presentation of different parts within fashion allow for my magazine to not only speak to multiple types of people within the fashion world, but also provide a more extensive and deeper amount of content towards fashion in spring.

When using the colors, i ensured to highlight words or phrases that deserve being highlighted. In addition to highlighting, the color choice that Jaiden and I chose prior came to work out really good and allows the cover to pop more.

Finally, for the font, i was able to find a consistent font of Ariel to let my puffs and coverlines pop more, making them more readable. In addition. this font feels universal and is able to fit in with most designs. This is great as it doesnt create too much of an outlier for the title, which is in a different font.

Production: The Title

Choosing the Style

As mentioned in a previous blog, Jaiden and I agreed on our colors, and more specifically, blue for the title. But, we never chose a font. As a result, that was chosen today. The two fonts we were choosing between are shown below. Option 1 on the top has a more loud, stylish, and popping title. On the other hand, the second option on the bottom had that simplistic magazine vibe which Jaiden and I also liked.

In the end, we chose to go with the first font, Brush Script MT. We did this because itll add onto the cover more than the other font would, which we feel is especially important for the title. In addition, the font looked great with the blue and white outline, as the nature of the font is more free and wild, which calls even more for a popping palette of colors.

In addition, i also extended the text and made it slanted by 5 degrees. Though small changes, it makes a difference when looking at it, and gives it that much more character to speak for the magazine.

Production: The Cover Image

 The Cover Image

In this production session, I worked on the front cover of my magazine. After first applying the image, i had to size it correctly so that i was positioned on the cover in a way where both me and the scene are visible. In addition, i had to take into consideration the addition of other characteristics onto my cover, such as the title, puffs and plugs, and more. I showed the initial placement before any other add ons below.

To make the cover feel more special, i decided that this scene and picture would be specific to the cover. This allows me to showcase more outfits but still keep the spring look.

Picture Origins

I took this picture at the CB Smith park located in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I came here with my friend around 6PM just to hang out, and ended up taking some good pictures. After looking over them, i realized that the outfit and view perfectly fit the spring theme that i want for my magazine, which led to its use as the front cover image.
